My Best Friend & My Soul Mate

Hello!

Today I want to talk about someone very dear to me who I will always have a special place for in my heart. My best friend. Today is her birthday, so I wanted to publish this post as one of my gifts to her. I cannot wait to see her (very soon I hope!) so I can give her the rest of her gifts, but I quickly realised that there is only so much that you can write in a card before you run out of room! We both know that I am one who enjoys pouring her heart out and writing soppy paragraphs about the things which I could never find the words to say verbally. So, without further ado, here is one of my gifts to my incredible friend.

What is a friend? Someone who you can talk to at ease. Someone who you can laugh and joke with. Someone who you can have a pleasant text conversation with when you have nothing better to do.
But what is a best friend? Someone who you can easily chat to about the most random things, whatever mood you are in. Someone who you can create hilarious one-word inside jokes with - which, whenever said, will send you both into hysterics and leaving everyone else confused. Someone who you can suddenly text when you need advice or have a funny story to tell.
Of course, I know many people who I consider to be good friends of mine, however there is only one person who I could call my best friend and mean it.

At the age of 6 I met you in the school playground. I decided there and then that I liked you and I wanted to be your friend. Never could I have guessed that you would be one of the most important people in my life. I was overjoyed when we became best friends. Some of my best childhood memories were with you; watching out for fairies and goblins, playing with our Bratz dolls, dancing around to Hannah Montana and High School Musical and having fun-filled sleepovers. Of course, over the years we developed some of the best inside-jokes ever that we would never cease to forget! Along the way we also created memories that I can remember clear as day. There are so many to choose from I simply couldn't pick my favourite but I'm sure that we are both thinking of the most memorable ones this very second.

I had always hoped that we would remain best friends and our friendship proved to be a strong one through school changes, house moves, new experiences and bigger responsibilities. I think we could both agree that 2013-2014 have been the toughest years of our life so far. As individuals we have struggled through many things that I never imagined would happen to us. Those two years were filled with upset, confusion and struggle and I know that I would not have made it if it hadn't been for you. We stuck together like glue and I will be forever thankful for that. I never expected things to pan out as they did but I believe that everything happens for a reason. Those tough times have made us stronger, as individuals and as best friends. We have made it out the other side, holding hands. Who knows what lies ahead, be it more tears or happiness and joy, but whatever the years ahead throw at us I will always be by your side. Through those two years your bravery inspired me. Your ability to smile helped me learn how to always find the silver lining of the cloud I might be standing on. I don't think you quite realised how much you helped me at that time. I will openly say that I wouldn't be here today, writing this blog post if it wasn't for you. I hope that you feel that I have also given you the help and support that you may have needed; I have always tried to do as much as I could to help you. Honestly, I would do anything for you!

I have seen you grow into a gorgeous young woman who I believe to be a gem in this world. You have an endless beauty that radiates off of you, making people smile wherever you go. You have the prettiest eyes that light up when you are talking about something you love and a heart-warming smile that can light up a room. It is not only your charm on the outside that is precious, but also the beauty of your inside, your soul if you will. You're determined and feisty, gentle and kind, you're jolly and cheerful, understanding and considerate. You're so many wonderful things that are hard to find in a person. You are a gift to this earth.

I have told you this before and I will tell you again... I believe that you are my soul mate. When someone says the word 'soul mate' I immediately think of a romantic couple, but looking closer at the word I understand what it means. A soul mate is someone who you know was placed in your path for a reason. Someone who understands how you are feeling and just knows how to set things right. Someone who you feel this unexplainable bond with. Someone who you love.

I can't imagine my life without you, and I very much hope that you feel the same way about me. I cannot describe the gratefulness and thankfulness that I feel to know that you are there for me and I am there for you. I love you so very much. I'm really looking forward to all the time that I will get to spend with you in the future. There is so much left for us to do! The next chapter of our lives starts now.

I would apologise for the small essay I have written about you, but I am not sorry in the slightest. This is the stuff I needed you to know and there was no better way to tell you than to publish it on here. Thank you for everything you have done for me. Not only are you my best friend, you are also my soul mate. So thank you. I love you so much.

Keep sweet!

Disney Princess Tag

Hello!

I realise that I haven't blogged in a while (for multiple reasons) but I decided that I would just carry on from where I left off and do a Disney post. I must say that I did attempt to do a Disney post a couple of weeks ago but unfortunately my computer crashed and I lost the whole post! But this week I am going to redeem myself and do a fun tag that I found online: the Disney princess tag! So let's get started!

1. Favourite princess
Oh dear, first question and I'm already stuck! I love them all! I am going to narrow it down to three and say Cinderella, Belle and Rapunzel.

2. Favourite prince
Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert or Kristoff

3. Favourite couple
Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert and Rapunzel

4. Least favourite princess
But I love them all! I think I might have to say Aurora

5. Least favourite prince
I love all the princes too! Maybe the prince from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

6. Least favourite couple
Probably Snow White and her prince because we hardly saw them together during the film

7. Favourite dress/outfit
Cinderella's ballgown

8. Least favourite dress/outfit
Merida's blue dress

9. A princess who inspires you
Belle

10. Worst decision made by a princess
Probably when Ariel signed the contract with Ursula

11. A villain you feel was justified in their treatment of the princess/prince
I don't think any of them should have treated the princess/prince the way they did! There is no excuse!

12. A princess you would like to trade places with
Rapunzel

13. A princess whose life you would hate to have
I think Aurora

14. A princess you think is a bad role model for young children
Don't get me wrong, I love Ariel, but I don't think portrays the right morals for children

15. Favourite tiara
Rapunzel's tiara

16. Favourite song sung by a princess
This is a difficult one! Well my top three are: 'A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes', 'Part of your World' and 'When Will My Life Begin'

17. Least favourite song sung by a princess
Maybe 'I'm Wishing/One Song' from Snow White

18. The princess with whom you would be best friends
Either Anna or Rapunzel

19. The princess with whom you would be 'frenemies'
I don't know! I don't think it would be any of them.

20. The princess you would openly hate and be enemies with
None of them!

21. The princess you would dress as for a costume party
Maybe Ariel in her pink dress or perhaps Belle because I'm a brunette

22. List three admirable qualities about the princess you named on question 4
Aurora is very beautiful, has a lovely singing voice and is kind

23. A princess you feel didn't deserve her happy ending
They all deserved their happy ending!

24. The happy ending you feel didn't make sense/was too easy
Again, not one of them were too easy!

25. Favourite sidekick
I think it would have to be Pascal from Tangled

26. Most interesting story
Even though she isn't an official princess, I'm going to say Giselle's story (Enchanted)

27. Best singing voice
Rapunzel - but I think they all have wonderful voices!

28. Edge of your seat: the moment you find most exciting
I don't know! Probably when Mulan is fighting the Huns.

29. If you were a Disney princess, what would your story be?
I know she is a queen, but my story would be Elsa's story.

30. What do you want to see from the next Disney princess?
The next princess is Moana (to be released in 2016) and I would really like her to be brave and independent.

So there you have it! My answers to the Disney Princess tag. Please feel free to use this tag on your own blog, and if you do I hope you have as much fun answering the questions as I did! Thank you for reading this post!

Would You Rather...?

Hello!

I wasn't sure if I was going to post this week as the past few days have been incredibly difficult. In the end I needed a distraction and decided that I would attempt a blog post. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do my Beauty Haul this week as not all the products that I bought have arrived, so hopefully I will be able to do it in a couple of weeks time. Instead, I am going to answer a few 'would you rather questions'. If you aren't familiar with this, it is when you are asked if you 'would rather' do one thing or another and then you have to pick between the two theoretical situations. It is quite a simple blog post but I thought it would be quite fun.

Would you rather...

1. ...own your own boat or your own plane?
 Own my own plane.

2. ...be able to fly or be invisible?
Be able to be invisible.

3. ...speak every language in the world or play ever instrument?
Play every instrument; imagine the possibilities!

4. ...live in the future or in the past?
Live in the past as I love previous eras - especially the 1950s!

5. ...be the best player on a losing team or the worst player on a winning team?
Be the best player on a losing team because I would know that no matter what I would have done my best.

6. ...live in the city or the country?
Live in the country because I feel so much calmer in the countryside.

7. ...live without a telephone or a television?
Live without a television. Who needs one anyway?! We can get everything we need on our phones nowadays!

8. ...be a rabbit or a horse?
Be a rabbit because they are just so cute!

9. ...go to the beach in the summer or skiing in the winter?
Go to the beach in the summer because the thought of flying down a snowy mountain with two metal poles attached to your feet scares me!

10. ...take a vacation on an exotic island or in a romantic city?
Take a vacation in a romantic city because there would be so much more to see.

11. ...lose your sense of taste or your sense of smell?
Lose my sense of taste.

12. ...live in space or under the sea?
Live under the sea because then I would be a mermaid!

13. ...have feet for hands or hands for feet?
Have hands for feet as I would not like to have my feet that close to my face! (I have horrible, battered dancer's feet!)

14. ...always have the same song stuck in your head or always have the same dream at night?
Always have the same dream at night because I hate having one particular song in my head!

15. ...have a unicorn horn or squirrel tail?
Have a squirrel tail! It would act as a fluffy pillow!

Okay, I know some of these questions were a little odd, but I hope you enjoyed this post nevertheless. Hopefully next week I will be feeling a little more upbeat and will be able to provide you with a great Disney post! If you have any suggestions of posts that you would like to see, please feel free to leave a comment below! Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Disney Tsum Tsum

Hello!

This week I wanted to publish a Disney post and talk about the new cute and cuddly plush toys collection: Disney Tsum Tsum. I love these adorable toys, so I thought I would share with you where they come from and let you see for yourself how cute they are!

The name 'Disney Tsum Tsum' translates as 'Disney Stack Stack', here's why...

These little cuties originally appeared in Japan through a puzzle app. You can download this application for free on the App Store (Apple) or on Google Play. On the game you have to connect as many characters as you can in one minute. As you eliminate more Tsums the score increases and as you progress in the game you collect Tsums which offer special abilities and in-game help. The game itself has a similar format to the game 'Tetris'. Since the launch of the app, it has topped both the Apple and Android charts in Japan and has been downloaded more than 14 million times!
After the app was released and became a major hit, a line a stackable plush toys was released. These fluffy friends have quickly followed in the path of the app and become a huge success. More than 1.6 million of these toys have been sold since they debuted at Disney Stores across Japan just 9 months ago. By looking at the pictures, I'm sure that you will agree with me when I say that they are super sweet!

The popularity of these toys and the app in Japan led to the release of them both in the US. Firstly, they introduced 30 of the plush characters into the Disney Park stores and on DisneyStore.com. Since then, they have released more characters. They have been a big success and are now being imported all around the world so that we can all get our hands on these collectable cuties!

Recently, I went shopping and I just happened to walk past a shop that stocked Tsum Tsums. Of course I couldn't just walk past! So, naturally I went in and ended up buying three small ones. I purchased Eeyore, Dumbo and Piglet. They are so sweet and make me very happy!

The toys come in three different sizes: small, medium and large. The small ones cost only £3, the medium ones £15 and the large ones £25. I love the fact that the small ones are only £3 as they are perfect pocket money price!

There are many different Tsum Tsums and even character collections. These collections are always being released. The collections that are currently available are:
Disney have started up 'Tsum Tsum Tsuesdays' whereby on the first Tuesday of every month a new mini plush collection will be released. The next collection to be released is the Big Hero 6 Collection on April 7th.

Hope you enjoyed this Disney post! I love these adorable Disney Tsum Tsums and hope you do too! Next week I am planning to post a Beauty Haul so watch this space! Thanks for reading this post!

A Sweet Confession...

Hello!

I love blogging, I really do, but it has occurred to me that I am actually not that good at it. Every time I go to do it I cannot seem to find the motivation. I run out of ideas or I believe that whatever I post won't be good enough. Sometimes I feel like my posts seem fake and put on, I try to make them seem upbeat and happy but more often than not I am actually not feeling that way myself. One of the things I like about blogging is that I can write about things that I am passionate about - such as Disney or reading. When I type the words they seem to make sense as they come so naturally, however when I read it back to myself it never seems to flow. I am proud of my blog, I really am, but when I am having a bad day it seems pointless because I think that whatever I write won't come out the way I planned. The thing is, I have a mental illness. It doesn't matter what it's official diagnosed name is. I have a mental illness and they are all as difficult as each other. I don't like typing this. I don't like admitting to it because it is such a big thing to own up to. People don't really understand what it is like, and I don't blame them! It is not something that you can understand unless you have actually been through it yourself. This illness prevents me from being able to do things that I used to enjoy and provides me with a constant weight that drags me down. As you may be able to imagine, trying to enjoy the little things with a massive weight stopping you from moving freely, is very difficult. After a while you lack motivation and wonder what the point is of doing certain things. This lack of determination prohibits me from sitting down and doing something productive; these things include reading and blogging, which are two of my favourite things! It is hard, not being able to take the time to do these things. Somehow, time runs away and suddenly you have gone weeks without posting or picking up your favourite book. Reading and blogging are my escapes. They make me feel happy, as I am able to forget my problems for a little while. It saddens me to think that I'm being stopped doing these things by an injury that you can't even see.
It is hard to explain but I wanted to say something. I wish that I posted more regularly. I wish that I could be more motivated. I wish that I didn't have this crushing mental illness. One day, I know these wishes will come true but for now I just have to stay strong and take baby steps towards the positive future.
I know that not many people will see this post. A small population of internet surfers who have somehow come across this blog and had enough time to read through this post. But I want to thank you. Keeping It Sweet is one of the achievements in my life and I am always proud to say that I have a blog. To be honest, I don't think I ever would have started one if it wasn't for my best friend Ellen who helped me through the first stages. She is so special, an incredible human being and I love her so much for that. When I published my first ever proper post - 50 Facts About Me - I was a little nervous. I didn't know if blogging was going to be my thing or not, or if I would be any good at it, but after a few posts I knew that it was something that I really enjoyed. I know that my blog isn't being viewed by the whole world, and I don't mind that. That isn't why I blog. I never wanted to become a 'famous blogger' or have millions of page views, I just wanted to find a new hobby that I could focus on. So thank you if you took the time to read one of my posts, I appreciate it. Time is precious and I feel honoured to know that some of you out there took a few minutes of your life to read something that I typed.
I don't know what I was trying to achieve through this post but I feel better knowing that I've said it. I suppose I just wanted to say that: I know I am not the best blogger in the world but I enjoy it and want people to know that.
Thank you if you read this post. I don't want to say when I am supposed to be publishing my next post because I cannot promise that it will ever appear. However I will say that I am going to try and post at some point this week. To be honest, I don't know if any of this make sense and I don't want to reread it as I know that if I do that I won't publish it! I hope that some of this made a little sense to somebody who reads this and you kind of understand what I am trying to say. Thank you again.

2015 Reading Challenge

Hello!

A new year means new books, and I have a feeling that this year will be a great year for discovering lots of new novels! This year I am determined to read many books, varying from old and new, happy and sad, and romance and thriller. At the end of last year I found an image on Pinterest of a 2015 Reading Challenge. I had a glance down the list and thought that it looked quite fun, finding new books and ticking them off as you go! So I edited the list slightly and set it as my own personal reading challenge for 2015.
In my very first blog post of this year I mentioned this reading challenge and hinted that I would be publishing a separate post on it shortly. So here it is! Take a look at my 2015 Reading Challenge...

This year I am going to read:
  • A book with more than 500 pages
  • A classic romance
  • A book that became a movie
  • A book published this year
  • A book with a number in the title
  • A funny book
  • A mystery or thriller
  • A book with a one word title
  • A book set in another country
  • A popular author's first book
  • A book from an author you love that you haven't read yet
  • A book written by someone under 30
  • A book based on a true story
  • A book that scares you
  • A book you can finish in a day
  • A book that came out the year you were born
  • A book set in high school
  • A book with a colour in the title
  • A book with magic
  • A book by an author you've never read before
  • A book written by an author with your same initials

P.S.
My best friend Ellen (who you may know from her amazing blog Painting The Roses Red) has recently set up another blog called My Imagination On Paper. I know that this blog is going to be a huge success and I am very excited to see it grow. On the 2nd and 4th week of every month, Ellen will be publishing posts about books she loves, her opinions on social issues, short stories that she has written, poems that she like, etc. I really think that you all should go and check this beautiful new blog out as I know that it has been a long time coming and she deserves so much love and support. New Year, New Blog

Hello!

Happy New Year!
I think that we all established in 2014 that I wasn't able to blog every week like I said I would. The last 12 months were incredibly difficult for me as I was going through some personal issues that caused me to stop doing the hobbies that I love. However, it is now a new year and I am determined to make this year a great one!
One of the first things that I decided that I wanted to achieve in 2015 was to continue my blog and post something every week. My school life is becoming busier so I decided that I was only going to post once a week on Fridays, alternating between lifestyle posts and Disney posts.
As you may remember, I did publish a post back in November explaining how I was going to step back from mainly posting about beauty and fashion and write more about lifestyle topics, e.g. books, crafts, school-life and any holidays coming up.
As you can see I have completely changed the style of my blog with a cute new background. Of course I just had to keep the blog title the same but I wanted to change it up a bit!

So, now that I have explained my plans for the new year I am going to share with you my New Year's resolutions and my goals for 2015!

My New Year's resolutions:

  1. Read more! (I mean, even more!)
  2. Drink more water.
  3. Be super organised - especially with my school work.

2015 Disney goals:
  1. Become a D23 member.
  2. Watch all the newly released Disney movies of 2015.
  3. Have at least two Disney Days.

2015 reading goals:
  1. Complete my Goodreads reading challenge. (25 books)
  2. Complete my personal 2015 reading challenge. (blog post on this soon!)
    1. Read:
      • Before I Go To Sleep, S.J.Watson
      • This Is How, M.J.Hyland
      • The Story Of Beautiful Girl, Rachel Simon

These are all of my main goals for the new year, but obviously I have a few smaller things that I would love to achieve in 2015.

I am so excited to blog more in the coming months and write all about my favourite things! I hope that you will come with me on my 2015 blogging journey and enjoy it as much as I do!

    Keep sweet!
